Looking at Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data from 2007, we see that there are 12 times more workers than police officers, with a higher fatality risk than police (21.8 per 100k workers). Top fatality rates go to fishers (111.8 per 100k), loggers (88.1 per 100k), and pilots (70.7 per 100k). Garbage collectors are also at higher risk of death, with 22.8 deaths per 100k workers.
